  • Cape Fear Valley Health is home to the Children’s Center, the community’s only civilian inpatient pediatric care unit. The staff care for infants, children and teens undergoing treatment for chronic or acute illness or injury. The 22-bed facility is designed for the comfort of you and your child. Our Pediatric Playroom is filled with fun toys and activities to engage children of all ages.

  • When your child needs emergency care, where you choose to go is an important decision. The Cape Fear Valley Health’s Emergency Department is one of the productive departments in the state. Our physicians and nurses are experienced and highly trained to care for children. We offer timely treatment for life-threatening conditions such as accidents and severe illnesses. When you arrive, please enter through a separate entrance located to the left of the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center’s adult emergency department. On the dedicated floor, colorful animal tracks – ducks’ feet, bear paw prints and deer hoof prints – lead the way to the 17 private rooms. We create a calm and caring environment, so children experience less anxiety and stress while at the hospital.

  • Our Pediatric Endocrinology center provides comprehensive care to children with acute and chronic disorders of the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, gonads and endocrine pancreas. Children with Turner syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Noonan syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, ambiguous genitalia, intersex, precocious or delayed puberty and females with hirsutism are provided with sensitive and individualized attention. Procedures, such as stimulation test for growth hormone deficiency, adrenal insufficiency, precocious puberty or late-onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia are conducted Monday through Friday by our board-certified pediatric endocrinologist.

  • The Diabetes Clinic provides evaluation, monitoring, counseling, follow-up and support for children with Type 1 (insulin dependent) and Type 2 (non-insulin dependent) diabetes. Your diabetes care team has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for its high-quality diabetes self-management program. The clinic staff earned the ADA Education Recognition Certificate. Your care team may include a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist, certified dietitian, and/or diabetes nurse educator

  • Our certified diabetes nurse educators are available to help you and your child or teen better manage their diabetes. Your child will be given kid-friendly tools and information. The program includes ongoing support from diagnosis to management, intensive diabetes management class for newly diagnosed children and teens and their families, insulin pump, continuous glucose monitoring classes, and management; and intensive insulin management
