About Hafiz Sarwar, MD
Dr. Sarwar serves as a Medical Director of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at the Cape Fear Valley Health. He also serves as an Associate Program Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He completed his Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency training at ECU Health/East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 2013. He served as an internist at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC for four years prior to his fellowship training. He completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship training at ECU Health/East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. He joined the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Cape Fear Health in July 2020.
His professional interests include prevention of lung cancer, early diagnosis of lung cancer, interstitial lung diseases, pleural diseases, obstructive lung diseases, cardiogenic shock and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
He considers teaching medical students, resident physicians and fellow physicians to be a great honor and privilege, and enjoys training them.
He believes in involving his patients and their families to make medical decisions and treating their problems.
