Our Approach to Interventional Radiology
We are highly focused in diagnosing and treating many medical conditions and disease states through image-guided, minimally invasive techniques, offering less risk, less pain and a shorter recovery time for our patients.
Non-Invasive Diagnostic Testing
Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)
The ankle brachial index, also called an ABI, is a diagnostic test that compares the blood pressure in the upper and lower limbs. ABI is measured by dividing the blood pressure in an artery of the ankle by the blood pressure in an artery of the arm (brachial artery). The result is the ABI. The lower the ratio, the higher the likelihood of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in the blood vessels in his or her legs.
Arterial Duplex/Venous Duplex
An arterial duplex combines two components (a traditional ultrasound and a Doppler ultrasound) to produce both images and waveforms. This test shows how blood flows in the arteries of your arms, neck or legs to measure speed and flow of the arteries.
This test may be ordered if you are having symptoms such as a burning feeling in your legs, muscle atrophy, pain in your hips, buttocks, thighs or calves and/or leg sores (ulcers) that don’t heal.
These tests can help to diagnose blood clots, chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), peripheral artery disease, vascular disease, varicose veins and other vascular issues.
Carotid Duplex
Carotid duplex is a painless ultrasound test that creates sound waves inside of the body that will show how well blood is flowing through the carotid arteries. The carotid arteries are in the neck and supply blood directly to the brain.
This test can detect blood clotting (thrombosis), narrowing of the arteries (stenosis) or other causes of blockages in the arteries.
Venous Duplex
Carotid duplex is a painless ultrasound test that creates sound waves inside of the body that will show how well blood is flowing through the carotid arteries. The carotid arteries are in the neck and supply blood directly to the brain.
This test can detect blood clotting (thrombosis), narrowing of the arteries (stenosis) or other causes of blockages in the arteries.
Vein Mapping
Vein mapping uses ultrasound imaging to create a “map” of your arteries and veins and any blockages in them. This test also shows the size, depth, and flow of blood in your veins and allows for better treatment planning for procedures such as fistula or graft placement and other surgical procedures.
