Ready to take the next step in your nursing career

At Cape Fear Valley Health, we are seeking talented, compassionate nurses to join our dynamic team. As one of the largest healthcare providers in the region, we offer unparalleled opportunities for professional growth, skill development, and making a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients and community.

Overview

Observation units are dedicated to clinical observation up to 48 hours to determine whether to discharge or admit patients. These units rely on standardized treatment protocols. Common conditions include asthma exacerbation, transient ischemic attacks, congestive heart failure exacerbations and sickle cell pain crisis.

Transitional Care Units (TCU) are designed to provide continuity of care and to promote the safe and timely passage of patients as they move between levels of care and across care settings (to another facility or their home).

Locations

  • Cape Fear Valley Medical Center
    • The Transitional Telemetry Unit (1 North)
      • Designed to provide an opportunity for providers to determine whether patients require inpatient hospitalization or can be discharged. The workflow on this unit varies from inpatient units because of less acute illnesses, standardized treatment protocols, and brisk patient turnover.
    • The Observation Non-telemetry Units (3 North A & B)
      • Non-telemetry observational units designed for medical stable patients who no longer require acute care services. These units prioritize continuity of care and collaboration with case managers to facilitate a seamless, safe transition to home or another facility.
    • Cardiac Observation Unit (CPCU)

Candidates

One year of nursing is preferred. Candidates are willing to undergo training related to treatment protocols and development of plans of care with the healthcare team. BLS and ACLS certifications as required by unit (courses sponsored by CFVHS). Academic advancement, specialty certification and Clinical Ladder participation is encouraged.
