About James P Flanagan, MD
Dr. James P. Flanagan is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in all aspects of orthopedics, including treating injuries and conditions of the ankle, elbow, foot, hip, knee, and shoulder. He also specializes in joint replacement and sports-related injuries. After graduating with his undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University in Ohio, Dr. Flanagan earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. He remained at the same institution and completed his transitional internship and orthopedic surgery residency before joining Cape Fear Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in 1997. Dr. Flanagan serves as a team doctor for the Fayetteville Marksmen and the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. He is also a preceptor for the Duke Medical School Residency Program and an associate professor for the Physician Assistant Program at Methodist University.
