Dr. Christopher Barnes joined Fayetteville Othopaedics in 2003 after completing his residency training at Duke University and a year of fellowship training in shoulder surgery and sports medicine in Los Angeles, California. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Barnes specializes in sports medicine, with unique expertise in shoulder arthroscopy, including repair of torn rotator cuffs and arthroscopic instability correction. His other special interests include knee arthroscopy, knee ligament (ACL) reconstruction, and sports-related injuries.

After entering private practice in 2003, Dr. Barnes performed the first arthroscopic rotator cuff repair in the Cape Fear Region. He has served as team physician for Methodist University and numerous area high school athletic teams since joining Fayetteville Orthopaedics.

Sports medicine, shoulder arthroscopy, and knee reconstruction remain the mainstay of Dr. Barnes’ practice. He has performed over 3,000 shoulder arthroscopies and 500 knee ACL reconstructions in Fayetteville.
