Introduction

Modern-day medicine has come a long way over the centuries, helping fight everything from simple colds to cancer. But sometimes what’s available isn’t enough. At times like these, trying something new is called for.

Cape Fear Valley Health values clinical research. It is an important part of being an academic hospital and, therefore, a benefit to the residents and fellows in Cape Fear Valley’s Graduate Medical Education Program. Area patients also benefit by having access to a wide variety of clinical trials.

In addition to the numerous clinical trials conducted in our Cancer Centers, Cape Fear Valley Health has partnered with Raleigh-based Wake Research to form Carolina Institute for Clinical Research. The joint venture expands on Wake Research’s coast-to-coast coverage of clinical research populations in the U.S., incorporating nearly 14 million people.

Wake Research conducts clinical trials in nearly all major therapeutic areas with experience in internal medicine, dermatology, women’s health, metabolic diseases, gastroenterology, men’s health, neuroscience, pulmonology, rheumatology, vaccines and women’s health trials.
