Upon completion of your interview you will:
- Be contacted by the recruiter if you have been selected for the position. We will begin background and reference checks upon acceptance of our employment offer.
- Receive a letter via email with instructions of all pre-employment requirements, where to go for New Employee Orientation, where to park, etc. Please read carefully and follow the instructions. Professional attire is expected.
- If you are not selected for a position, you will be notified and your application will be retained for 90 days.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Criminal Background/Employment/Education History Check
You will receive an e-mail invitation from our background check vendor, Pre-Check with a link to complete an on-line disclosure form/release that allows Pre-Check to conduct a complete and thorough background check. The email will come from CandidateServices@PreCheck.com. When completing the employment history portion of your background report, it is important that you enter ALL employment history as stated on your employment application. In addition, it is important that you enter ALL education obtained, to include high school when completing the education portion of your report. Failure to enter all data as instructed may result in a delay of your start date.
Please respond to the e-mail as soon as you receive it so there is no delay in your start date. If for any reason you do not see the email in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folders.
Employee Health Screening
In order to begin work, you must "clear" your employment health screen by 12pm, Wednesday before your New Employee Orientation date. The recruiter will schedule your appointment directly with you. Employee Health can be reached at 910-615-3171 or 910-615-3172.
You will need:
- Complete New Hire Medical Questionnaire - click here to open document. This is a fillable form. Once you've completed the form, please print/sign and bring to your scheduled appointment. If you have any questions regarding the medical questionnaire please contact Employee Health at 910-615-3171 or 3172.
- Bring a copy of all your vaccination records (bring a copy from your previous employer or your primary health care provider). If you are unable to provide your vaccination records, Employee Health will discuss the requirements with you during your assessment. All laboratory testing and/or vaccinations will be performed at no cost to you.
- Bring any medications currently prescribed or taking.
- Bring a photo ID such as driver's license.
- Anticipate an hour for this screening.
- Please do not bring children to this appointment.
- Anyone who arrives 20 minutes past their scheduled appointment time will need to reschedule.
- Do not empty your bladder prior to your arrival or appointment time, as a urine specimen will be required.
- Please turn off cell phones and refrain from use upon entering the Employee Health Office.
- Contact Employee Health if you have any questions prior to your appointment.
Human Resources
Following your Employee Health appointment, you must come to Human Resources, located at 1320 Medical Drive. You will need to complete your new hire packet (direct deposit, tax forms, I-9 form etc.). Let the receptionist know you are a new hire.
A photo will be taken during your visit for the purpose of creating an employee badge. No rings/ornaments are to be worn in the nose, eyebrows, tongue, or other visible areas of the body. All visible tattoos on the face or neck must be covered. Hair cannot be of "rainbow" or "neon" colors (examples: blue, pink, green, purple, etc.). Excessive ornaments are not allowed. NO more than 2 earrings in each ear. Earrings should be small in size.
Please bring the following required items to HR:
- Identifications proving eligibility to work in United States (Visit https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-9-paper-version.pdf for a complete List of Acceptable Documents (see page 4) to determine what documentation is required of you when you come to HR. It is important that you bring unlaminated, original documentation as copies are not acceptable.) Please DO NOT complete the online I-9 form.
- Information needed to complete the federal and state income tax forms.
- Voided check or direct deposit form containing your bank routing information as Cape Fear Valley is a mandatory direct deposit institution. Debit cards, checking and/or savings account deposit slips are not acceptable.
- Your vehicle(s) license plate number will be needed in order to complete the Vehicle Registration form listing the automobile(s) you will be driving.
BLS, ACLS or PALS Certification
If you are responsible for patient care and your position requires BLS, ACLS, or PALS you must have an active certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to starting employment. The type of certification is based on your position and the department where you will be working. Your recruiter should have covered this with you during your hiring process.
It is required that certification is obtained, and you provide your AHA card to your HR Onboarding representative, no later than 12pm, Wednesday prior to your start date, or your start date may need to be moved. You may scan/email or take a picture of your card and email it to your HR Onboarder.
If you do not have the required certification, or if it has expired or it expires within 30 days of your start date you may choose any organization that provides AHA training; however, the following organizations offer the required certifications:

Orientation Information
Please report to the Ellison Auditorium located on the first floor of the Center for Medical Education. Please follow the signs marked "New Employee Orientation" and park in the blocked off lot. Please park in the designated area as marked on map and arrive early to allow ample time to secure a parking spot.
Important information for your orientation:
- Please arrive no later than 7:15AM on the first day of orientation and as instructed for the following day(s). Each day will end at approximately 5:00pm.
- After lunch new hires will either go to their department or be directed to a computer training location for Epic training. Some of the Epic training locations are not on the main campus where orientation is held. Thus, you will need transportation to a satellite location by 1pm.
- RNs, LPNs, ED Paramedics, and Medical Assistants in the ED and Express Care are required to attend Nursing Core Orientation (NCO) after completing New Employee Orientation (NEO) on Monday and Epic training on Tuesday. NCO is Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of Week 1 and Monday thru Friday of Week 2. You will receive an NCO schedule during NEO on day one.
